Now that I have gotten some sleep I will elaborate on the whole hospital trip.
Yesterday I woke up from my evening nap at around 7 pm and I felt horrible, my whole bump was hard as a rock and I was sweating a ton. I sat up and tried to get comfortable but nothing seemed to work. I started noticing my bump was hard for a minute or two and then soft again so I called my husband at work and told him what was going on, then I called my OB/GYN's emergency line (since the office was closed) and the on call doctor told me to come in and get checked out since I wasn't sure if the feeling was contractions. I called my husband back and he left work (since I do not drive) and picked me up and we headed to the hospital. I was admitted into labor and delivery and hooked up to the monitors.
While the nurse was asking the millions of questions I was still having a ton of pressure with the tightening and she looked at the print out from the machine and stopped taking my information so she could go get the doctor. He came in and gave me a shot of medicine to stop the contractions since I am only 29-ish weeks. After the nurse finished taking the information she took urine and blood samples and it turns out I have a mild urinary infection so they went ahead and gave me antibiotics too.
After about thirty minutes the contractions had all but stopped and I just had to sit around for a while and be observed. It turns out the medicine they gave me to stop the contractions made my heart rate go too high so I am not supposed to have that kind again if I come back in.
Finally a little after midnight the doctor came in and unhooked all the stuff so I could go home and sleep in my own bed. I might still get a contraction here and there but I should be good for a while. It was a really long night and I hope I do not have to go back in again until I have the baby...at a healthy time for baby!
